Ordering something online should be simple: you choose what you want, pay for it and wait for it to arrive. But what happens when your Meesho order turns up damaged, looks nothing like the listing, or you return it and your refund never arrives?
Whether you’re dealing with a rejected return, a quality dispute or money that seems to have disappeared, you don’t have to keep going round in circles. Here’s how to complain to Meesho and what you can do if your problem isn’t resolved.
Your first step should be to raise the problem through Meesho itself. Open the Meesho app, go to My Orders, select the order you’re having trouble with and use the Help Center to report the problem. Meesho says you can also find its Help Center under the Account section of the app. Depending on your issue, you may be given an option to speak to customer support.
If you want to return an eligible product, select the order and look for the Return option. You’ll then be asked why you’re returning it and can follow the instructions to arrange collection. Don’t assume every product has exactly the same return conditions. Meesho tells shoppers to check the return period and policy for the particular product they’ve bought.
A return can become more complicated when you and the seller disagree about the condition of the product. You might have received the wrong size or colour, found that an item is damaged, or believe that its quality or description doesn’t match what you ordered.
This is where evidence matters, take clear photos or a video showing the item and its condition. Keep screenshots of the original product listing, particularly where they show the description, size, colour, quantity or other details you’re disputing. You should also keep your order details and copies or screenshots of your conversations with Meesho.
If the return is rejected, ask Meesho to explain why. Don’t simply keep submitting the same request without knowing what’s causing the problem.
Returning the item doesn’t necessarily mean the problem is over. Meesho says that once a return has been processed, the refund is initiated automatically. If this hasn’t happened, or Meesho shows the refund as completed but you haven’t received the money, go back through the Help Center for the relevant order and report the missing refund. Check the payment method you originally used and look carefully at your bank or payment account. Keep a screenshot or statement showing that the refund hasn’t arrived.
It’s also worth noting the date the return was collected, when Meesho says the refund was initiated and any refund or transaction reference you’ve been given. That gives you a clear timeline if you need to take the complaint further.
If customer support isn’t resolving the problem, make it clear that you’re making a formal complaint and set out exactly what you want Meesho to do.Keep it concise, include your order number, what went wrong, what you’ve already done to resolve it and the outcome you want, such as a refund, replacement or correction.
For complaints that remain unresolved, you can also ask Meesho for details of the appropriate grievance officer and escalation route. Meesho publishes grievance contact information on its website, although the contact currently displayed in its Privacy Policy relates specifically to issues covered by that policy.
Keep a record of every stage. If you later need outside help, being able to show that you gave Meesho a reasonable opportunity to put things right can make your complaint much easier to explain.
If you’ve complained to Meesho but you’re still getting nowhere, you can take the problem to India’s National Consumer Helpline (NCH).
The NCH is run by the Department of Consumer Affairs and provides a route for consumers to register grievances before taking more formal action. You can currently submit a complaint through its online portal, WhatsApp, the NCH app or UMANG app. You can also call 1915 or 1800 11 4000 between 8am and 8pm, except on national holidays.
When you complain, have your Meesho order details and supporting evidence ready. Include your screenshots, payment details and previous correspondence where relevant. You’ll receive a docket number which you can use with your registered mobile number or email address to track the complaint.
You have consumer rights when you shop online. These include the right to be informed about what you’re buying, the right to have your concerns heard and the right to seek redress where appropriate.
If you’ve exhausted Meesho’s complaints process and the National Consumer Helpline hasn’t resolved the dispute, you can consider taking the matter to the appropriate Consumer Commission. The National Consumer Helpline links consumers to the District, State and National Consumer Commissions as well as the e-Jagriti platform.
Formal action won’t be necessary for every missing refund or faulty product, but knowing that you can take your complaint further can help if you’ve reached a dead end.
The key is not to let a simple return or refund problem turn into weeks of disconnected conversations. Keep your order confirmation, payment record, photographs and screenshots together. Make a note of when you contacted Meesho and what you were told. And when you escalate your complaint, explain clearly what has happened and what you want done to put it right.
The stronger your paper trail, the easier it is to show what went wrong, whether you’re dealing directly with Meesho or taking your complaint further.
